many things can help you in picking the right driving instructor for you. One of the simplest ways is to be given a recommendation from one of your family and friends. If they managed to get on well with thier driving instructor thier is no reason why you should not be able to build a good rapour with that instructor.
Depending on where you stay hopefully you will have different driving instructors working in your area. They will be made up of independent instructors-they work on thier own, semi independant instructors-they work with little companies (10 cars or less) or large national companies that cover a bigger area.
The Small independent instructors will be a little cheaper than thier larger couterparts due to the fact that they are not paying large franchise fees which keeps thier costs down. The Larger companies can offer the brand name and all the trust that goes along with that, be aware though most small independants did at some time work for thier bigger couterparts, most but not all driving instructors start out with BSM or the AA then decide to go out on thier own to make more money.
Your driving instructor should be able to install confidence in your driving ability he/she should be able to identify faults and correct them using positve constructive advice. if you are trying to learn in a stressful enviroment then your abilty to perform the skills needed to control your vehicle will be more difficult, the time you take will be longer and your learning experiance will not be a positve one.
So you have a choice choosing the large company with the brand name or the small independant instructors with the cheaper price. It all comes down to one thing if you dont get along with you instructor change your instructor.
My advice is to try an initial lesson with an instructor you will know after completing your first lesson whether their style of teaching is for you if its not dont be affraid to tell your instructor after all its not cheap to take drivng lessons.
Taking your driving lessons is supposed to be the first step to independece, it marks a small milestone n your life for this fact your driving instructor should be patient, friendy and above all be able to make you feel comfortable in the vehicle. No two learners are the same and a good driving instructor should be able to adjust his way of teaching to suit that individual learner. Your instructor should have a stuctured way of teaching being able to adjust that is a mark of a good instructor,
Hopefully this information can help you make an informed decision on choosing the correct driving instuctor for you and send you on the road to becoming a newly qualified driver and remember when you do lose the L plates the real learning begins you have to make your own choices on the road it can be daunting at first but everyone on the road has been in your position at the start of thier driving career.
